Spotlight on JCT Clause 21.2.1 or IFC 6.2.4
Have you been asked to provide this cover
Are you aware you have signed contracts which dictate that you have to carry this insurance
Did you know this clause is a specific exclusion under most Public Liability policies
Did you know the onus is on you the contractor to provide this cover and not your client
21.2.1 insurance
Even when you the Contractor have not been negligent, things do go wrong, which can result in a large Liability claim against your client for which they do not receive protection under your insurance.
21.2.1 Insurance will protect your client against liability in respect of damage
caused by 'collapse, subsidence, heave, vibration, weakening or removal of
support or lowering of ground water arising out of, or in the course of carrying
out works'.
We also recognise the short time scales often given to provide quotes. We are
fully aware of the prompt service required to ensure cover is in place before
contract work begins. Instant quotations can be provided together with
confirmation of cover certificates for your clients.
